If all we do in our lives is be a very good person and even goes to church, that will not rescue anybody and won't allow a person to experience heaven. Meaning, going away to hell, often known as the Lake of Fire:

'For the wages of sin is death. But the grace of God, life everlasting, in Christ Jesus our Lord.' (Romans 6:23)

No, it is not doing good that saves humans, we need to apologise for the many bad things we do, and give our lives for God. I shall describe this with more detail in just a moment.

This is the reason I find that being at funeral services of a person who is not a follower of Jesus Christ truly bothers me. This is also the reason my highest ambition in this life is telling others about what Sovereign God is really like. The Teacher of the law in this message does not do the seemingly ?bad' sins like child abuse, as we say, but he did not receive a pardon by God.
The tax gatherer does do ?bad' sins but was forgiven by Holy God, given that he rightly lamented his conduct.
It is a humiliating thing to acknowledge we are and have been, bad and to give up our existence fully to the Creator God. But without it we would not be redeemed from our trespasses, we have to come to Sovereign God submissive and incapable. Jesus Christ said :

'He called a little child to himself, and set him in the midst of them Then he said, "I tell all of you with certainty, unless you change and become like little children, you will never get into the kingdom from heaven.' (Matthew 18:2-3)

Merely By Doing Big Things For God Most High Is Not Going To Protect Us

'for by grace have ye been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God.' (Ephesians 2:8)

Therefore, Will You Really Pay For Your Individual Deficit In Hell For Ever And Ever??

'And he said to all: If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.' (Luke 9:23)

And ?Pick up our cross on a daily basis? means, we must obey in a self-sacrificing fashion daily for God.
The Bible also says:

'Dear friends, God is good. So I beg you to offer your bodies to him as a living sacrifice, pure and pleasing. That's the most sensible way to serve God. (Romans 12:1)

'But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear.' (1Peter 3:15)

Therefore: God Most High gets to be your owner. For life. And as the Bible teaches, we live for Sovereign God, learning the Scriptures, praying on a daily basis, informing others about God, and helping some others when lead to. He, is our mission and reason for the rest of our life.
